Apple recently hosted one of its biggest events of the year, WWDC 2023. While WWDC is usually focused on iOS and other platform updates, this time, all eyes were on the Vision Pro. Just like the first iPhone, the Vision Pro is expected to be a game changer when it arrives. From what has been showcased at the event, the product has a huge potential. Here’s everything you need to know about the Vision Pro.
Apple Vision Pro: Huge promises
As of now, Apple has just unveiled the product and showcased its features. At the event, the company even unveiled that the price of the Vision Pro is set at $3,500, which means it will cost around AED 14,000, when it makes its way to the UAE. At that price, it is worth much more than the top-of-the-line iPhone or even a MacBook Pro.
With the amount of features the device has to offer, the price is justified. Especially considering that this is a first-generation product that is done better than any other brand that has tried it.
Apple’s Vision of the Future
Apple claims that the AR headset offers “Real 4k” resolution, which is delivered using its micro-OLED displays. This display can be used to stream content or play video games on Apple’s new visionOS. The operating system has been designed to work with the device’s sensors seamlessly.
The Vision Pro comes with IR cameras on the inside that track your eyes. It even has downward-facing cameras that track your hands. With a combination of these, the usage of the AR headset becomes seamless. It will feel as if there is a telepathic connection between you and the headset. You can literally move your eyes to select an app/menu and with a tap of the finger, which is actually not even close to the headset, you will be able to trigger the selection.
Things that makes the Vision Pro better than any other VR/AR headset
The Vision Pro even gets a set of lidar sensors that sense objects around the headset in real-time. In total, the Vision Pro features 23 sensors that include 12 cameras, five sensors and six microphones. All of these sensors report to the newly designed R1 chip.

On top of an amazing display and a bunch of sensors, Apple Vision Pro also comes with an external display. Using a feature called EyeSight, the AR headset will be able to project a live feed of the wearer’s eyes on the outer display. This will essentially give a transparent effect to the person looking at the wearer.
All of this is powered by a battery pack that is connected through a wire. As the headset sits on your head, it only makes sense to have an external battery pack to avoid putting more weight, essentially making it uncomfortable to wear. The battery pack offers two hours of usage on a full charge. For an endless experience, the wearer can always choose to connect the Vision Pro directly to the wall.
visionOS – A key contribution
As mentioned before, Apple has specially designed a new operating system for the Vision Pro called visionOS. This is going to offer a huge contribution towards how the wearer will be able to interact with the headset. It works on a three-dimensional interface, which has been optimized to showcase apps and media at different scales.
While Apple is still working on the finishing touches, they claim that Vision Pro will also be able to run Unity apps. This means that people will be able to use apps like Adobe Lightroom and Microsoft PowerPoint on the AR headset. Apple Vision Pro will not only be useful in productivity and media consumption but will also bring a new gaming experience. With the help of Apple Arcade, we will see over 100 games available on the visionOS at launch.
Why should you be excited about the Apple Vision Pro?
Apple Vision Pro is going to be a game-changer in the world of technology. It aims to bring a new way of interacting with the digital world. From the way we consume content to the level of productivity we get, it promises to change all of that. You are not just wearing an AR headset that looks futuristic, you are essentially wearing a whole computer that comes right in front of your eyes. With all the advanced sensors placed, they have even made it easy to use.
It is by no means the first headset that brings all such features. But it is definitely the one that does it right. So, you should definitely be looking forward to its availability.
