Remittance apps in the UAE are getting more competitive by the month. Botim, Careem Pay and Aspora are the names that have started coming up a lot when looking for low fees, strong exchange rates, and fast transfers. On the surface, they look similar. But once you dig into how they actually work and what users are saying online, each one plays a slightly different game. Which one of these should you use? Let’s answer that with a quick comparison.
Botim – More Than Just a Calling App
Out of the three apps mentioned, Botim is the one that I have personally used twice. Both times, the transfers were quick. I already had the app installed on my phone as I use it to speak to my family back home. I just had to setup the international transfers option by submitting my Emirates ID for a basic KYC requirement.
Once done, it was as easy as it gets. Enter the account details, fill in the desired amount and pay using Apple Pay or any debit card.
Botim stands out for another reason and that is its coverage. It supports transfers to 200+ countries, with options like bank transfer, wallet, cash pickup, and even UPI.
That makes it the most versatile option here. The trade-off? Its is pricing. Botim may charge a fixed fee (AED 6–15 + VAT) and includes a small margin in the exchange rate. However, the app does allow a few free transfers for first time users. So if you are just giving it a shot, this should not be a problem.

Careem Pay: Another Super App in UAE
Just like Botim, international transfers are not what Careem is known for. Most people might have it on their phone for its ride-hailing services and food delivery. Recently, the app tapped into the international transfer space.
The only way to win a consumer base is by offering highly competitive rates. The app offers transfers to 30+ countries and markets zero fees, backed by Lulu Exchange. I gave it a shot and the experience was genuinely smooth. No friction during setup, the transfer went through without any hiccups, and the zero-fee promise held up. It is worth noting that Careem Pay is still building out this feature, so the country coverage is more limited compared to Botim.
But if your destination is on the list and you already have the app, there is really no reason not to try it.
Aspora: The Specialist
Aspora plays a completely different game. It only supports transfers to India, but what it lacks in range, it more than makes up for in rates. The app uses the mid-market rate, what they call the “Google rate”, meaning no hidden markup on the exchange. Fees are minimal and transparent upfront.
Over a million NRIs across the UK, US, UAE, and Europe use Aspora for transfers to India. The app is built specifically for this corridor and it shows. User reviews are largely positive, with high ratings on both the App Store and Trustpilot. Most users report transfers landing within minutes, and the referral program is one of the better ones in this space.
The trade-off is obvious. If you are not sending money to India, Aspora is simply not for you. It is also mobile-only, so there is no web option if you prefer managing transfers from a desktop.
So, Which One Should You Use?
All three apps are legitimate options and each one has found its footing in the UAE remittance market. Botim covers the most ground and its an app that most people already have on their phone anyways. So, if you are sending to a less common destination or want multiple payout options like cash pickup or UPI, it is hard to beat.
Careem Pay is a solid pick if you already use the app and your country is supported. The zero-fee structure and smooth experience make it worth considering. Aspora is the one to bookmark if India is where your money is headed and you want the best possible exchange rate every single time.
None of these apps are perfect across the board, but the fact that all three are pushing each other on pricing and experience is a win for anyone sending money home from the UAE.
