Samsung has once again cemented its leadership in the foldable smartphone market with the highly anticipated launch of its latest trio: the Galaxy Z Fold7, Galaxy Z Flip7, and the more accessible Galaxy Z Flip7 FE. Unveiled at the Galaxy Unpacked event in New York on July 9, 2025, these devices represent a significant leap forward in the world of foldable smartphones. This new generation of foldables offer slimmer design, battery battery life and top-notch performance. Let’s delve into what makes each of these new models a game-changer.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 stands as the flagship designed for users who require both the convenience of a smartphone and the expansive utility of a tablet. This iteration focuses heavily on refining the physical form factor, making it the slimmest and lightest Galaxy Z Fold ever. Weighing in at a mere 215 grams and measuring just 8.9 mm thick when folded (4.2 mm unfolded), the Z Fold7 is notably lighter and thinner than its predecessors.
It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, which is paired wit up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB on internal storage. As for the displays, the Fold 7 features a 120Hz 6.5-inch LTPO AMOLED panel on the cover screen and when unfolded you are greeted by a 8-inch LTPO AMOLED 120Hz display, which supports HDR10+ and can peak at 2600 nits of brightness. All of this is backed by a 4400mAh battery, which can be charged up to 50% in just 30mins using the QC2.0 technology.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7
For those who prioritize compact design and bold aesthetics, the Galaxy Z Flip7 continues the legacy of Samsung’s iconic clamshell foldables. The Z Flip7 features a new, edge-to-edge FlexWindow, a significantly larger and more useful outer display. Honestly, this kind of reminds me of the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra, which I used earlier this year.
Samsung has also refined the hinge mechanism and reinforced the exterior with premium-grade materials, boosting the device’s robustness and ensuring it withstands everyday abrasions and minor impacts. The Flip7 remains thinner than its predecessor, maintaining its pocket-friendly form factor while accommodating a larger 4300mAh battery, addressing common user concerns about battery life.

Under the hood, the Z Flip7 is powered by the latest Exynos 2500 chipset paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of onboard storage. In terms of the optics, the Galaxy Z Flip features a dual-camera setup on the cover screen featuring a 50MP primary sensor and a 12MP ultra wide sensor.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE
Complementing its flagship counterparts, the Galaxy Z Flip7 FE (Fan Edition) is Samsung’s strategic move to make foldable phones more accessible. The Flip 7FE retains the stylish clamshell design of the Flip 7 but optimizes certain specifications to achieve a more budget-friendly price point.
Unlike the Flip 7, the FE model comes backed by a Exynos 2400 processor. Also, the FE maxes out at 256GB of storage and 8GB of RAM. While on paper, this flip phone is a bit underpowered, we are sure the compromises you are asked to made are not a lot considering the fact that you have a lower barrier of entry into the foldable smartphone world.

The Flip 7 FE features a 6.7-inch LTPO AMOLED display offering 120Hz refresh rate. The cover display is also smaller than the Flip 7 at just 3.4-inches.
